what we look for

We are looking to partner with entrepreneurs who are looking to bring a unique, in-demand, and highly necessary service to their community and the surrounding areas. You are looking to provide homeowners, real estate agents, home buyers and sellers a peace of mind that can only be achieved by repairing, protecting, and maintaining their most important asset, their homes and businesses. It is important that the Owners we partner with fit our laid-back culture while also being highly motivated to oversee jobs and provide outstanding customer service.

Crawlspace Medic was founded out of opportunity and necessity. Since the moment we helped our first client, we have provided a service that gives customers a peace of mind unlike any other. We’ve also done something similar for our Franchise Owners, as well. We are in a perfect spot to position ourselves, and our Franchise Owners, as the premier home-repair company, regardless of market.

At Crawlspace Medic we are looking for three different personas. Our Owner-Operators typically have a background in various Home-Improvement and Home-Repair Industries and they look forward to rolling-up their sleeves and completing the repairs themselves.

  • Managing employees
  • Completing estimates
  • Booking jobs
  • Interacting with customers
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Networking
  • Speaking with vendors

Our Semi-Absentee Owners are usually individuals coming from a corporate position who hire a general manager and employees to complete the jobs while they oversee their business. With either option we are looking for someone with the following characteristics:

  • Building and leading a team
  • Overseeing the General Manager
  • Managing payroll
  • Some administrative responsibilities

Additionally, we also have our third, investor option where investors will build a high level team to oversee day-to-day operations. Investor Owners do not need a background in home-repair and are typically individuals coming from the corporate world. Tasks include:  

  • Building a high-level team that runs independently
  • Speaking with the Manager about operations
  • Reviewing monthly numbers and projections  

Add-On Opportunities

For an individual who already owns their own Home-Improvement Company or a real-estate agent, Crawlspace Medic makes the ideal “add-on” business. The option to incorporate an additional service and revenue stream is perfect for someone who already operates in this area and who regularly faces structural and foundational issues in one way or another.

How Many Employees Do I Need?

Most businesses that are generating between $500,000 and $1,000,000 require a fairly sizable workforce. This workforce, in turn, quickly eats into your profits. This is not the case with Crawlspace Medic.

Below, we provide you with the general information and job descriptions for the few employees that your company will need:

When first starting your Crawlspace Medic, you, as an Owner, will need the following:
 

1 Operator

This can be the Franchise Owner, if they are Owner-Operator, or the General Manager, if they are Semi-Absentee.

 

1 Lead Repair

This individual is a high-level carpenter that leads all jobs. Initially this person can also act as the Inspector. – This is important as we’ve actually had Franchise Owners have work to do the FIRST day that they opened so it’s imperative that this individual is employed.

As the business grows you will start to add:
 

1 Inspector

This person is dedicated specifically to completing crawlspace inspections and creates the repair/prevention plans. – When your business grows to the point that your Lead Repair employee is unable to handle the Inspector position any longer, you can onboard an individual to fit this job, specifically.

 

Any Number

of additional employees who assist with construction. This number will depend on the market and job flow the business has.

FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS

We know that owning your own franchise seems like the ideal job – because it is. We are very selective, however, about who we choose to award a franchise to. For starters, candidates  who are applying for a single unit agreement should have a minimum credit score of 650, liquid capital of $50,000 or more, and a net worth of $150,000. We are also looking for experienced entrepreneurs who are multi-unit minded and who are looking to invest back into themselves and their business to grow into further locations. For candidates applying for multiple units, the requirements in terms of both professional backgrounds and skill sets are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Candidates with experience in multi-unit franchising or with a high degree or business experience may be eligible for a multi-unit agreement with Crawlspace Medic, which will earn you a lower franchise fee for each unit awarded.
